The present invention relates to an electrical apparatus for use in a vehicular lamp or the like.
A typical prior art electrical apparatus is illustrated in FIG. 8 and comprises a housing 1 and a plurality of switching devices 2 housed in the housing 1. The housing 1 includes a threaded hole 1a extending from one end to the other end thereof and having a threaded portion 1b. The housing 1 further includes a connector 1c mounted in the housing 1. Each of the switching devices 2 includes a body 3 and a plurality of terminals 4 mounted in the body 3.
The housing 1 is mounted on the connector 1c to complete an electrical connection between the housing 1 and the connector 1c. A receptacle terminal 5 is mounted on the housing 1. The receptacle terminal 5 has an upper contact 5a and a lower contact 5b formed in a spaced relationship. The upper contact 5a is fixed to the connector 1c. A plug terminal 6 is received in the receptacle terminal 5. The plug terminal 6 has an upper contact 6a and a lower contact 6b formed in a spaced relationship. The upper contact 6a is inserted into the receptacle terminal 5.
The housing 1 has a plurality of apertures 1d defined in an end wall thereof. The apertures 1d are aligned with the terminals 4 and the receptacle terminal 5. The upper and lower contacts 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b are respectively inserted into the apertures 1d. In this manner, the upper contact 5a is connected to the lower contact 5b by the lower contact 5b. The upper contact 6a is connected to the lower contact 6b by the lower contact 6b.
However, the prior art electrical apparatus has a disadvantage in that the housing 1 must be mounted on the connector 1c and secured in place with screws 7.
In the manufacture of the electrical apparatus, the receptacle terminal 5 and the plug terminal 6 must be mounted to the housing 1. Therefore, the receptacle terminal 5 and the plug terminal 6 must be molded. Then, the molded terminals are attached to the housing 1. The attachment work is cumbersome and time-consuming.
